    COSMETOLOGY PROGRAM

    COSMETOLOGY TRAINING FOR STUDENT SUCCESS

    The Cosmetology program prepares a person for a new career as a licensed cosmetologist. From manicure and pedicure training to classes on facials, skin care and hairdressing and hair coloring, the program's cosmetology courses equip students to succeed. After completing the program, students earn a Certificate of Completion in Cosmetology and can take the Florida Cosmetologist License Examination to receive their occupational license and begin their career.

    COSMETOLOGY CAREER PROGRAM COURSES

    CSP0015 Manicurist and Pedicurist
    This course includes Florida Cosmetology laws and rules, HIV/AIDS, Sanitation, Ethics, Nail Theory and Practice, and related subjects including nail disorders and diseases.
     
    CSP0266 Facials/Skin Care Specialist
    This course includes acquisition of knowledge of the facial specialist and the related chemistry; bacteriology, anatomy and physiology; manipulative, electrical and chemical techniques in the practice of facials.
     
    COS0005 Hairdresser and Cosmetologist (1 of 2)
    This course includes identification of shampoo, conditioners and scalp treatments; evaluation and analysis of scalp and hair needs; demonstration of shampoo, manipulations and rinsing; identification and performance of hair shapes and styles; and strategies to meet client needs.
     
    COS0006 Hairdresser and Cosmetologist (2 of 2)
    This course includes identification of hairpieces, wigs and attachments; identification and demonstration of chemical procedures, color/bleach techniques.

    PROGRAM LENGTH:

    1200 hours
    Days: Full-time 7 hours per day, 43 weeks
    Evenings: Part-time 4.5 hours per evening, 67 weeks

    ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

    Standard admission procedures apply. Application deadlines will be in May for the July class and in November for the January class. Those wishing to be considered for acceptance must apply through CTAE Student Services. Interviews will be scheduled for applicants meeting criteria and deadline.
